What is Cellstory?

Cellstory is an innovative liquid microneedling treatment from South Korea that uses patented Microspear® technology to stimulate skin renewal and enhance the delivery of powerful active ingredients — without traditional needles.

Microspears are purified hydrolysed sponge spicules that create microscopic pathways within the skin, helping to stimulate the skin's natural renewal processes and improve the delivery of active ingredients.

Cellstory's eight-step protocol then combines this micro-stimulation with ingredients including:

Growth factors including EGF, FGF and IGF
Plant stem cell extracts
Amino acids
Hydrating ingredients
Antioxidants
Calming botanical extracts

The combination is designed to support collagen and elastin production, improve skin texture and elasticity and promote a smoother, brighter and more even-looking complexion.

How does Cellstory work?

Cellstory is more than a single serum or facial. It is a structured 8-step skin rejuvenation protocol designed to prepare, stimulate and subsequently calm the skin.

Step 1–4: Prepare and condition the skin

The initial stages cleanse, hydrate and condition the skin while introducing a range of supportive ingredients.This preparation helps create an optimal environment for the central Microspear® treatment.

Step 5: Microspear® Meso-Care

This is the key stage of the Cellstory treatment.The patented Microspear® technology creates microscopic pathways within the skin while stimulating the skin's natural regenerative response.These pathways also help facilitate delivery of the active ingredients used throughout the protocol.Microspear® is produced using a multi-stage purification process designed to remove impurities and minimise irritation.

Step 6–8: Calm, hydrate and recover

Following the stimulation phase, the final stages of the treatment focus on calming, hydrating and supporting the skin barrier.This is an important part of the Cellstory protocol because the treatment doesn't simply stimulate the skin and stop. The final stages are designed to support the skin through its recovery and renewal process.

Cellstory vs traditional microneedling

Although Cellstory is often called liquid microneedling, it is not the same as conventional microneedling. Traditional microneedling uses a device containing multiple tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Cellstory instead uses Microspear® technology, consisting of microscopic spicules derived from hydrolysed sponge. Both approaches are designed to stimulate skin renewal and improve the appearance of the skin, but they use different technologies. Cellstory can therefore be an attractive option for patients who want the skin-rejuvenating benefits associated with microneedling but would prefer a needle-free treatment.

Is Cellstory the same as microneedling?

No. Cellstory is often called liquid microneedling, but it does not use conventional needles.Instead, it uses patented Microspear® technology — microscopic purified spicules designed to stimulate skin renewal and enhance the delivery of active ingredients.

Is Cellstory needle-free?

Yes. Cellstory does not use a traditional microneedling pen or needle cartridge.The treatment uses Microspear® technology instead.

Is Cellstory painful?

Cellstory is generally described as a treatment with minimal discomfort. You may experience a prickling, tingling or warm sensation during and shortly after treatment. Unlike conventional microneedling, there is no mechanical needle device passing repeatedly over the skin. Sensitivity varies between individuals, but Cellstory is generally considered a well-tolerated treatment.

Is there any downtime after Cellstory?

Cellstory has relatively little downtime compared with more invasive skin-resurfacing treatments. Immediately after treatment, the skin may appear:

Pink or mildly red
Slightly swollen
Warm or tender
Tight or sensitive

These effects generally settle over the following few days. Some patients may experience dryness or light flaking as the skin renews. Your individual downtime will depend on your skin, the treatment protocol and your response to the Microspear® treatment.

When will I see results?

Some patients notice an improvement in radiance and skin texture within the first couple of weeks. The skin continues to undergo renewal following treatment, meaning improvements can develop progressively rather than appearing immediately.

A course of treatments is generally recommended when the aim is to achieve more significant and longer-term improvement.

How many Cellstory treatments will I need?

Although improvements can be seen after a single treatment, a course is generally recommended for optimum results.

How long do Cellstory results last?
